MEET MICHAEL B. NOTELOVITZ
Michael Notelovitz, founder and head of MBN Attorneys, was born and bred in Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg), where he attended Capricorn High School. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1987 with an LLB degree, amongst the top students in his class.
He served articles of clerkship in 1988 and 1989, with the leading Johannesburg firm of Werksmans Attorneys. His principal during his articles was Mr. Alec Costa, one of South Africa’s leading divorce attorneys at the time.
This experience of learning divorce from one of the best ignited Michael’s interest and passion for Family Law – which continues to this day.
Following his articles, Michael was admitted as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa, where he practiced for several years, earning a reputation as an excellent junior advocate.
Despite his success as an Advocate, Michael chose to continue his career in attorneys’ practice, where his strengths and contribution could best be expressed.
There are many personality traits and criteria to look for in a divorce attorney. You need someone with extensive experience in divorce cases, a strategic thinker, a superb negotiator and communicator, and a track record of success.

More importantly, this meeting will give you a sense of your proposed attorney. Do you feel comfortable with him/her? Do you have good chemistry? Does he/she inspire confidence? Is he/she a good communicator?
Since you will be working closely with your attorney for several months, perhaps years, and you need to feel confident and at ease with him or her.
